24 Hour Home Care’s Caregivers Win the Home Care Service Awards and the Joan Baier-Garland Home Care Nursing Scholarship, Awarded by CAHSAH

Daisy Mejia and Tenika Cole, two of 24 Hour Home Care’s outstanding Caregivers, received the Home Care Service Award and the Joan Baier-Garland Home Care Nursing Scholarship from the California Association for Health Services at Home, respectively.

The Home Care Service Award, which honors an individual directly involved in the day-to-day home care that has consistnetly provided outstanding service to patients in their homes, was awarded to Daisy Mejia, a Caregiver of our Westside Regional Center branch office. Daisy has been working with children and adults with disabilities since she was 16, and began her professional Caregiving career at 18, caring for an 11-year old boy with severe autism. In December of 2012, she started working with 24 Hour Home Care, and has cared for the same clients with autism and cerebral palsy since her first day with our company. For the families Daisy works with, she has become an important part of their lives, providing personal care, medication reminders, and the much-needed respite that many of the parents lack. Due to her amazing contributions and positive attitude, two of the families she has worked with have provided her with glowing recommendations in caregiving.

The Joan Baier-Garland Home Care Nursing Scholarship, which awards $2,500 to a student in good standing in either an AA, BSN, or Masters Nursing Program who have demonstrated a commitment to home care and to the community, was awarded to Tenika Cole, a Caregiver of our Encino branch office. Tenika has been an advocate for all those she cares for, helping them keep doctor’s appointments, find resources, and simply being a companion. Her instructors praise her as an “extremely motivated student,” and here at 24 Hour Home Care, she is an excellent, trusted team member.
